Busy Bag 3

This is the final post in the busy bag series. If you haven’t seen Busy Bag post 1 or Busy Bag post 2 I recommend you visit those as well! One of my favorite things about these busy bags is that they are grab and go – all the materials are there, and when I need something in a pinch I can pull one out. Here are a few more of my favorites!

Note: A laminator and paper cutter are helpful tools in creating these busy bags. Similar pouches to the ones shown are linked here.

My purpose here is to encourage and empower you to make your own bags! However, if you are interested in purchasing these bags I do sell them. Please email me at kristenmeyers56@gmail.com for a price list and description.

Constellations*

My 5 year old is very excited about stars and outer space, so this one is high interest for him. He loves learning the names of the constellations and trying to re-create them himself. I also have him create his own constellations and name them.

Materials: constellation cards (free download), glow in the dark stars

*The constellation cards are free for personal use; if you are interested in purchasing this bag from me I have another site I can use to purchase a license to similar cards.

Addition Dominos

This is one of my favorite bags! My 5 year old is learning addition right now, and dominos are such a fun way to practice. This bag comes with 2 different activities.

Materials: Dominos (0-6 are used; I use small dominos from Dollar Tree)

Downloads: Number Cards 0-8, Number Cards 9-12, Addition Domino Maze

Activity 1: This activity practices the addition concept that there can be several ways to reach an addition sum. Lay the cards out 0-12 and have the learner add each side of the domino to find the sum. The domino is then placed on or above the sum card.

Activity 2: This activity uses the Domino Addition Maze. Learners can lay out the dominos face up or face down, choosing dominos to add the sides together and find the sum. The mat is designed to fit dominos bought from Dollar Tree – they are small and fit within the borders.

Alphabet Beads Letter Matching

This is a simple letter matching activity where the learner matches letter beads to the corresponding letter.

Materials: Letter Beads,

Downloads: Letter Matching Strips

Pom-Pom Number Drop

Kids love using the big tweezers to pick up the pom-poms in this activity, and it’s great for fine motor development!

Materials: Large Tweezers, mini pom-poms

Downloads: Number Cards 1-4, Number Cards 5-8, Number Cards 9-10

Fish Bubble Counting Mats*

We love these counting mats in our house! This is a free download from The Measured Mom, one of my favorite education bloggers. This activity helps with 1 to 1 correspondence and highly engaging!

Materials: one set of fish bubble mats, flat glass marbles

*The mats are free for personal use; I am unable to create this busy bag to sell as it is not my own work.
